Question:
My voice is not clear. People don’t understand what I am saying, and sometimes even I don’t understand what I am saying. Maybe I have a thick tongue, but I know every problem has a solution. Please help me know how to make my voice thinner and clear.
Answer:
I heard once that the tongue is the strongest muscle in the body and in my experience as a coach I have found it can also be the most tense. Press the tongue against the roof of the mouth as hard as you can to make it tired. After this it should feel more relaxed. To develop dexterity, form your lips into a small circle as though you are going to say “ooh,” and then roll the sides of the tongue up toward the roof of the mouth and stick it out through your lips. Also try to touch the tip of the nose and the lower chin with your tongue. Also, read pages for advice for other elements that contribute to clarity, such as articulation and resonance. You can also practice making different consonants and doing tongue twisters. Keep your faith!
