Question:
I am 22 years old and feel very uncomfortable when I speak. I don’t think my voice has changed — when I speak my voice squeaks. People don’t understand what I am saying because my voice cracks. I don’t know what to do as I am currently studying law and feel that I cannot communicate properly.
Answer:
You need to see a doctor to see if your vocal cords have developed properly, if you have a condition like “spasmodic dysphonia” or a health problem that might be causing the issue. The doctor can recommend treatment, which might include or be limited to speech therapy. This is a very big question and it would not be appropriate for me to try to give additional advice here because it is not clear what is causing the issue. Best of luck to you.
