Question:
Does it matter whether a male singer trains with a good male voice coach or a good female voice coach? I’ve been training with a very good female voice coach since 2006. She is a retired opera coloratura in the style of bel canto. My singing has greatly improved in that time. I’m a tenor. Just wondering what you think. Thanks.
Answer:
As long as your teacher understands the voice and the different requirements of the male and female instruments, it should not make any difference at all. Many singers have great success with teachers of the opposite sex.
Perhaps the only limitation is in demonstrating in the same range, but I would rate it as unimportant.
