How can I get myself to sing again?

Question:

I can’t sing anymore but I would like to. I struggle to get myself to sing out loud at home alone! How can I get myself to sing out loud and start practicing again??

Answer:

Without knowing more about the circumstances under which you stopped singing, I can make only some simple recommendations:

Sing along with a favorite recording while you do light household chores. Turn the music up and just hum at first if that makes it easier.

Do simple melodies while doing tongue trills, lip trills or humming. You can do this in the car too.

Try chanting along with a recording of chanting, especially if it is in another language and something unfamiliar that you have no associations with.
