There is a voice type called lyric-coloratura and these sopranos will sing crossover repertoire from both vocal types. They often sing the coloratura roles when they are young and grow into the more lyric repertoire as they mature. Repertoire is sort of like clothing. Even though something fits it might not look great. Even though we can sing all the notes, some repertoire just isn’t ideal for our voice or personality.
