Auditory figure-ground processing disorder

Question:

My voice is very loud. My hearing has been tested and there are no significant deficits. I do have severe learning disabilities, particularly with auditory figure-ground. I am wondering if there are new techniques/hearing aides that are available.

Answer:

This is not an area of expertise for me. EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a technique that involves bilateral brain stimulation and perhaps something of that nature would help with this. Maybe there is someone in your area who does this work. I’m sorry I have nothing more for you but encourage you to keep looking. You can be one of the pioneers whose search and shift will help many others. And, you might also tune into Dr. Mona Lisa Shultz on Hayhouse Radio, to see if you can get on air with your question. I believe she would be helpful to you. Or you can book a session with her privately too, if you have the resources.
