Question:
I am a 22-year-old female and my voice is still like a 3 or 4-yr-old child. Please suggest any solutions so that I can improve my voice.
Answer:
My best recommendation is always that you work with a coach. Until you find someone in your area, you can get started by lowering your pitch. Think of making a low moan on the sound “Oh.” Then try to speak in that low, open place. You can also make sure the sound is not too nasal. Plug your nose and speak until the back of the tongue and palate are released and the sound is no longer nasal. Work slowly and carefully, for only short periods of time, so that you do not tire your voice. Again, I recommend a live session with a coach or speech therapist so they can identify what you are doing to create the sound and give specific practices to help you shift it. Record your session so that you can work on your own after.
