Losing Voice Due to Congestion

Question:

I constantly lose my voice, like I can lose my voice 3 times in a month. I get constant sore throats, strep throat, laryngitis, sinusitis. I’ve had problems with my ears and this has been ongoing for years. I’m scheduling an appointment to see an ENT, but is it something I should be concerned about?

Answer:

Yes, of course this is something to be concerned about, and seeing an ENT is exactly the right thing to do. In the meantime you can steam, do a nasal rinse (neti pot) and drink Throat Coat Tea made by Traditional Medicinals. There are also drops you can get to help keep your ears clear. When you see the ENT ask about what she/he recommends to keep airways clear. You can also track your eating and see if you can learn if any foods or beverages you consume increase congestion. Drink lots of water and get an abundance of sleep. Rest your voice from talking as much as you can when you are in the midst of an episode.
Take good care.
