I’m an opera student and my voice is too high pitched. I’m a Leggiero Tenor, and the highest one possible, almost a Contra-Tenor. This is hateful. All the good roles are for dramatic tenors, which are heavier and lower in tone. I already asked my teacher how could I lower my voice naturally, but she said there is no way. Maybe you could help me. I don’t want to become a baritone or bass. I just want to make the voice lower one tone. I really would like to have the role of Siegfried or Canio. Do you have any advice or answer for me?
I agree with your teacher. The tone, range and tessitura of the voice are related the size of the vocal cords, as well as the overall physiology of the body. Just as you cannot be taller or larger, you cannot change your voice. You have to fall in love with what it is and sing the repertoire that suits you. If you can accept it, there will be specialty music that only you can do. You could bring an extraordinary heart and intention to it and great pleasure to your audience.
